Closing and printing manifests

Closing and printing manifests

A manifest is the Japan Post Code 61 dispatch slip you hand over with your parcels. Group shipments together as you create labels, then close the group to print the manifest.

When you create a label (either as a single shipment or in a batch), you pick a Group in the Create label dialog. Every shipment you label against that group is added to its manifest automatically.

To create a new group, click New group in the Create label dialog, enter a name, and click Create group. The new group becomes available immediately for this and future labels.

  1. Go to DashboardManifests.
  2. Filter by status using the tabs at the top: Open, Closed, or All.
  3. Click any group to see the shipments it contains.

You can close a group from the create-label dialog or from the manifests page.

When you're labeling the last shipment for a group:

  1. Check Close consolidation group and print manifest in the Create label dialog.
  2. Pick the fulfillment center the manifest will be filed against. This defaults to your primary fulfillment center.
  3. Click Create label (or Create labels if you're batching).

After the label and packing-slip print dialogs are dismissed, Zonos closes the group, downloads the manifest PDF, and opens a print dialog for it.

  • Page 1 is the deferred-payment dispatch slip (後納差出票). Every shipment in the group is listed here, whatever service level it used. This is the page you hand to the post office.
  • Pages 2+ are the customer/post-office receipts, one stapled to each parcel and one kept by the post office. These pages are generated for EMS and International Parcel shipments only, because they are keyed to a tracking number.

A shipment on page 1 with no receipt page is not a missing shipment. Small Packet (小形包装物) is not a tracked Japan Post service, so it is listed on page 1 and gets no page 2+ receipt. A group of five parcels can legitimately produce a page 1 listing all five and receipt pages for only the EMS and Parcel ones, and a group of nothing but Small Packets produces a page 1 and no further pages at all. This is expected Japan Post behavior, not a failed label. You do not need to create a separate group per service level. Confirmed with Japan Post, August 2026.

  1. Go to DashboardManifests.
  2. Click the Closed tab.
  3. Open the manifest.
  4. Click Download manifest to save the PDF, then open it locally to print.

Closed manifests cannot be reopened. If you need to remove a shipment after closing, void the label — voiding a shipment in a closed manifest will not change the printed manifest, so make sure your physical parcel handoff matches what you handed Japan Post.
